The Rock Mountain project currently being constructed on the Internet (www.rock-mountain.org) aims to develop an entertainment and education site focusing on the historical and cultural evolution of Western popular music and its political impact and contribution to both Western and the increasing 'global' community. |

The layout of the site recreates and reflects the various eras, influences and themes that have contributed to the development of popular music, particularly 'Rock n Roll' and its evolutionary forms, icons and legends (stars), and the major historical events and eras which both shaped it and in turn were influenced by it. |
Dr Ivan Molloy and Mr Ron Reavell (both former University Academics in Political Science) formulated the 'Rock Mountain' (RM) concept in 1997.
In 1998 Dr Molloy and Ron Reavell broke new ground in academia by presenting a 'world-first' university lecture course entitled 'Rocking the World - The Politics of Popular Music' - a lecture series exploring the historical evolution of popular music as an expression of the evolution and political history of Western culture.
Seeking to pursue the 'flip side' through virtual reality presentation of educational and entertainment material, Molloy and Reavell have now decided to recreate some of the most famous icons and eras of the evolution of Western popular music and use this virtual reality internet site to not only entertain, but also provide a facility for public education at all levels. It will also act as an agent of promotion for the ongoing development of Western 'Rock' music.
